Guruvandan: Honoring Our Guiding Lights
Every year, ex-Modelians join hands with the Modelian Committee to celebrate Guruvandan, a heartfelt tribute to their beloved teachers, around Teachers’ Day on September 5th. This cherished tradition is a way for alumni to express their gratitude and respect to the mentors who shaped their lives.
The event is uniquely hosted by batches celebrating their golden and silver jubilees, making it a nostalgic and meaningful gathering. This year, the batches of 1974 and 1999 took the lead, organizing a memorable program at the school. The celebration was graced by Justice Sanjay Dwivedi from the MP High Court as the chief guest, and 52 former teachers were honored for their invaluable contributions.
A Day Steeped in Tradition and Reverence
The program began on an auspicious note with a Saraswati Pooja, invoking blessings from the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. The school prayer followed, setting a serene and respectful tone for the day.
One of the most touching moments was the garlanding of former teachers, done in order of seniority, symbolizing deep respect. Each teacher was presented with a shawl and shreefal, as a mark of honor and gratitude. The heartfelt gesture was accompanied by alumni seeking blessings from their mentors, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth and emotion.
Celebration Beyond Words
A specially crafted souvenir commemorating the event was distributed, serving as a keepsake for the occasion. Adding to the meaningful activities of the day, a tree plantation drive was carried out on the school premises by the chief guest, in collaboration with Kadam Society, as a tribute to growth and sustainability.
A Grand Conclusion
The program concluded with a convivial lunch, allowing teachers, alumni, and students to come together, share memories, and strengthen their bonds. The entire event was a beautiful blend of tradition, gratitude, and joy, leaving everyone with hearts full of respect and appreciation.
Guruvandan stands as a testament to the enduring impact of teachers and the deep ties that bind them to their students, even decades later. It’s a celebration of learning, respect, and the everlasting legacy of knowledge passed down through generations.
